Loft Conversions

The floor that was already there.

Sovran designs and builds loft conversions with the same architectural rigour as every other floor in the house. Dormer, hip-to-gable, and mansard configurations across London and the Home Counties. Party wall agreements handled. Structural design coordinated. Planning secured where required. One detail most homeowners discover late: under Approved Document B, converting a two-storey house creates a three-storey dwelling, which triggers a protected staircase requirement with fire doors at every level. Sovran builds this into the design from the first drawing, so it never becomes a surprise late in the programme.

Basement Conversions

Sovran has delivered basement conversions across London boroughs where soil conditions, neighbouring properties, and planning constraints make the process genuinely complex. Structural engineering appointments, party wall procedures, and building control sign-off are managed as part of the project. Fully coordinated from start to finish. All waterproofing is specified to BS 8102:2022 — the British Standard for protecting below-ground structures. London clay and high-water table conditions on many sites require a combination of Type A, B, and C waterproofing systems, and the specification is made on a property-by-property basis following a site investigation.

Full Renovations

Stripped back, handed complete.

Some houses need more than a refresh. Sovran takes them back to brick, reconfiguring layouts, replacing services, and finishing every room to a high-end standard. Structural work, replastering, rewiring, replumbing, joinery, and fit-out managed as a single project with a dedicated site lead. Every decision is made before the first wall comes down, so the project moves without interruption from demolition to handover.

Landscaping & Swimming Pools

Beyond the back door.

An outbuilding is only worth building if it is worth spending time in. Sovran designs and builds garden rooms, home offices, pool houses, and outbuildings that are insulated, serviced, and finished to the same standard as the main house. Many fall within permitted development. Those that don't, we take through planning. The brief can be as simple as a quiet office or as involved as a full entertainment suite with its own kitchen and bathroom, either way, the structural and architectural quality is the same. Swimming pools are specified with full plant room integration, automated cover systems, and landscaping designed properly and under the necessary regulations from the first drawing.
